Description

Milad tower is the tallest free-standing telecommunication tower in the world with 453 meters of height. Therefore It was a great honor to take part in the design and production of some decorative touches including the outdoor café, the bubble wall, the revolving restaurant, the entrance hall, and the main corridor’s pendant ceiling.

2006 – 2007

Milad Tower’s Bubblewall

First of all, we used a kind of transparent double-skinned acrylic sheet that offers the clearest possible view and has a smooth, water-dispersing coating on both sides. This product conventionally uses in the glazing of the greenhouse and botanical gardens as raw material. It had occurred to us that why not try to use it in an entirely peculiar way? We have chosen a series of bubble blowers at the edge of the sheets along with the different nozzles and then pumped the water into hollow partitions to shadow the natural behavior of the waterfalls. As a result, rear changeable RGB lamps helped to magnify the scenic impressions of the bubble’s movement.

The lobby’s columns and chandeliers

To design the lobby’s columns and chandeliers which was impressively scaled, we aspired to adopt genuine, prominent and figurative Persian symbols in repetitive motifs using valuable materials like Bronze. The column heads inspired by palm leaves that portrayed our historical architectural treasure that considered as the sign of prosperity and modesty. Shafts and bases are also inspired by palm trunk but in an articulated approach.
Certainly the lobby space and its wonderful high ceiling exhibit a remarkable combination of modern engineering and handicrafts. For the reason that All pieces are exclusively designed and made for this project. Chandeliers formed by order of rows of dangled acrylic rods that serve the role of a massive overhead light diffuser.

The lobby space of Milad Tower

layered lighting

A large number of acrylic straps cut out, polished and juxtaposed in a unique pattern to give the elusive cloud effect appearance. The layers of light sources played a significant role to scale up the impression and consequently served to enlarge and enliven the space. In another dramatic touch, repetitive layers used in a woven pattern of wood timbers on the wall. Sections are variously projected outside or depressed inside, chaotically creating an extraordinary light and shade effects. The result is a look of an abstractly embossed cover on the wall.
