SAMAN Villa

White plaster walls highlight the artwork while reflecting the natural light.

Description

The design of this project was completed in 2018, and after going through legal procedures, its implementation began in 2019.

However, due to the spread of the epidemic and some other obstacles, its construction has not yet been completed. Although it is in the final stages of carpentry.

Three-story building

While the bulk of this three-story building is strictly orthogonal, these two vertical metal mesh boxes on the facade create a pleasant dynamic attribute. In some instances, the texture becomes dense, while in others, the louvres pull away from each other, bringing more light inside the house through windows.

A deck downstairs and two terraces upstairs

Outdoor spaces — and views toward them — are central to this home. There is a deck downstairs and two terraces upstairs. The pool locates amid a verdant lawn; the adjacent dining patio lays under a sun-filtering canopy formed by the timbers of Oak and Acrylic glazing sheets.
The façade along the garden side of the house features large glass sliders on three levels, providing a beautiful vista of the garden. The glass sliders pocket out of sight to create a seamless flow between the interior and exterior. Natural light pours in everywhere. Due to being so open to sunlight and air, the home depends less on electrical lighting or air conditioning than other houses. Rooftop photovoltaic panels, cisterns, and grey water recycling add to its environmental friendliness.
The design offers an unrestricted character between its transparency and a relatively free-flowing plan.
We wanted the design of the house to be substantial and protective while being light and airy.
The mass of the grey scheme in cement walls, porcelain floors in the balconies and yard decks that make up the primary structure parallels the large openings that cut into it, an interplay between solid and void.
White plaster walls highlight the artwork while reflecting the natural light. Natural oak — used to create built-in cabinets and wall claddings and contain the more private functions of the home — adds warmth. Ribbed and leathered Negro marbles highlight various architectural features throughout the house.
